As I sit back and think on where I stand, I see fortunate parents and fortunate children. Despite all the ups and downs that my family has gone through, Allah has been very kind to bless my parents. This month, one of their son’s is seeking his 2nd term as Member of Parliament (MP) to represent the people of Debidwar in the 11th Parliament of Bangladesh and on the other hand I have become Harvard Business School Alumni graduating after completing the OPM program.
Many know and many don’t know that my mishap in 1996 resulted with my passport being surrendered in court for bail as I was wrongly accused . With 45 days in Jail and 9 days in CID remand I walked through these unpaved roads to stand where I am today. No private universities in Bangladesh were willing to enroll me and I had a travel ban for the following 5 years even though never convicted. Finally, IUB accepted me and Thank You to the Late Behrouze Ispahani who took a strong stand to enroll me.
Today, I could not expect more after my son Ayaan had the opportunity to experience attending a class at Harvard and giving him the confidence that a school like that is in his reach.
I would like to thank all the people who have been by my and our family’s side through thick and thin. Professor Ananth at Harvard at his last class said that one of the take home’s is to embrace what you have and the advantage that you have been that chosen one to experience it all.
I have also been very fortunate to have found a life partner like Ayesha.
Allah has been kind, there is greatness all around us. It’s time to - take the shot - I did, HBS !!
